Aquí teniu el text que vaig preparar pel “tumblr” del projecte Mantis de Jordi Abelló.
Les mantis, com el silenci entre dues notes ―més important en una simfonia que les pròpies notes que la configuren―, estan com absents, com si tot plegat no anés amb elles, com si vinguessin d’un altre lloc (From whence arrived the praying mantis?/From outer space, or lost Atlantis? deia Ogden Nash) i la seva presència oculta entre nosaltres ens revelés l’existència de les coses i vetllés per elles. El dolor per l’absència, la indiferència que posava de manifest Luis Martínez de Mingo: maldita mantis / a medio devorar me abandonaste / sin consumar el rito. L’atracció que ens produeix el seu misteri i el seu comportament, ens fascina d’una forma similar a la atracció que ens produeix un gran incendi a la ciutat, obligant-nos a mirar i a mantenir-nos al seu costat.
