El BB es va entusiasmar quan vam entrar al Design Festa Gallery de Tòquio aquest estiu, on exposava Debi NG. (bloc, sorri, en japonès). Una col·lecció d’ingènues d’il·lustracions de nens i nenes jugant. Vam xerrar una estona amb Debi, i el BB va triar The door is closing. Imagino que li va agradar el color brillant del dibuix. No cal dir que l’obra es va incorporar al nostre voluminós equipatge i ara penja del capçal del llit del BB.
A la il·lustració veiem un nen obrint una gàbia on hi ha una munió de cares grogues, que ens recorden als clàssics smileys, amb la mateixa tipologia, però sense somriure. Un nen intenta obrir la gàbia i alliberar els tristos smileys. Els tristos smileys s’escampen , mentre esperem que tornin a somriure.

The BB got excited when we visited the Design Festa Gallery of Tokyo this summer, where Debi NG made her exhibition (blog, sorry, in Japanese). A collection of naïve illustrations of children and girls playing. We were talking for a while to Debi, and the BB chose The door is closing. I think that she liked the brilliant color of the drawing. It is not necessary to say that the artwork traveled whit us into our heavy luggage, and it now hangs on the wall besides of the bed of the BB.
On the illustration we can see a child opening a cage where there are a lot of yellow faces, which remind us to the classic smileys, with the same typology, but without smile. The child attempts to open the cage and to free the sad smileys. The sad smileys spread, as long as we expect that they smile again.
